CPP President Hun Sen Hosts Mr. QU Qingshan to Reinforce Cambodia-China Friendship

Phnom Penh: On the morning of October 17, 2024, CPP President Hun Sen, warmly received Mr. QU Qingshan, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chairman of the Institute of Party History and Literature, at the 7 Makara Palace in Phnom Penh. This significant visit aimed to strengthen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and China.

Hun Sen emphasized the importance of Mr. QU's visit as a reflection of the deep-rooted ties between the two countries. The Cambodian leader expressed gratitude for Mr. QU’s presentation on "100 Years of the Communist Party of China and Its Important Experiences," which was shared with CPP officials, underlining its value in enhancing party knowledge and governance.

Mr. QU Qingshan, in turn, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and conveyed a message from Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC, to Hun Sen, highlighting the latter's status as a highly respected leader in China. He praised the socio-economic advancements achieved under Samdech Techo’s leadership, referring to the Cambodia-China relationship as a "steel friendship" that offers immense potential for further collaboration.

Mr. QU also highlighted the outcomes of the recent 3rd Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. This session focused on reform and modernization goals tailored to China's unique context. He emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation, aligned with the diamond cooperation initiative outlined by both Hun Sen and President Xi, aimed at fostering a shared future and elevated standards for both nations.

Hun Sen acknowledged the leadership of the CPC and its pivotal role in China's ongoing development, reinforcing the sentiment that the partnership benefits not only their respective nations but also the broader region. He underscored the historical significance of Cambodia-China relations, tracing back to the Chenla period, and expressed a commitment to continue strengthening this partnership to address contemporary challenges.

In expressing gratitude for China's support, particularly highlighted during recent bilateral meetings, Samdech Hun Sen reiterated the positive impact of Chinese assistance on Cambodia’s socio-economic development and national independence. He called for enhanced efforts to promote the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement, aiming to maximize mutual benefits and regional stability.
